Project

Scenario WAM plus "klimaaktiv bauen und sanieren"

Content and Goals

Based on the ambitious WAM-plus scenario of the "Energy Economics scenarios in terms of climate targets 2030 and 2050" it will be analyzed which contribution the “klimaaktiv” building standard is able to achieve and its promotion to an Austrian low-carbon development.

For this purpose, the existing experience of the program “klimaaktiv bauen und sanieren” and the derivable assumptions for e.g. room temperature, hot water consumption and building compactness of the different building types will be taken into account.

Moreover, interactions between requirements of building regulations, housing subsidies, the “klimaaktiv” building standard and historical data, expected development will be analyzed and previous model assumptions revised. Based on these results an outlook for future development will be created.

Results and Benefits

The main results of the short study focus on the following aspects:

  • Energetic impact potential of the program “klimaaktiv bauen und sanieren” in relation to climate targets
  • Recommendations for a goal-oriented pathway for requirements on thermal quality and energy provision for the program
  • Demonstration of the building sector specific time lag between decision to measures and occurrence of desired effects
  • Modelling of resulting heat demand for the building sector supplemented by electricity demand for building services and cooling
