Austrian representation in the IEA Experts Group on ‘R&D priority setting and evaluation’

ÖGUT's main responsibilities within this project are to represent Austria in the experts group, to help organise the international workshops, and to compile the results. The experts group was established by the Committee on Energy Research and Technology (CERT) in 1991 and serves as a forum for cooperation and the exchange of information in the field of energy technology analysis, setting priorities for R&D, and assessing the benefits of RTI policies.
Goals and Topics
The aim is to identify key topics in energy research and to communicate the findings to decision-makers within CERT and at national level.
Through the Austrian delegation's participation in the EGRD, international experience in the field of energy research is analysed to draft national strategy papers and define FTI priorities, whilst Austrian expertise and success stories are contributed to international cooperation.
Topics include, for example, scenario development for setting R&D priorities, roadmaps or implementation strategies for new energy technologies. To this end, workshops on key topics are organised twice a year and discussed with experts. The results are documented in a comprehensive report.
The expert group is an advisory body to CERT. Together with Herbert Greisberger (eNu), Karin Granzer-Sudra (ÖGUT) represents Austria on this body. Herbert Greisberger is a founding member of this group, and since 2017 ÖGUT has represented the Federal Ministry for Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure in the IEA experts group.
