Stephan Renner

Dr. Stephan Renner has been Managing Director of ÖGUT since January 2026. He has many years of professional experience in environmental, energy and innovation policy. His expertise encompasses energy and environmental policy consulting, political strategy development, and the facilitation of interdisciplinary transformation processes between public administration, business, research and civil society.
After completing a technical college (HTL) in automation technology, Stephan Renner studied political science in Vienna, Tel Aviv and Ulster (UK) and earned his doctorate at the University of Vienna. He completed a postgraduate programme at the Institute for Advanced Studies (IHS) and conducted research on European energy policy at the Technical University of Munich. His professional career includes positions at the Austrian Energy Agency (AEA), the European Commission in Brussels, and the political cabinet of the Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology (BMK).
