OGUT subject area “Sustainable Financial Market”
Money to be invested in line with criteria of sustainability is a source of so-called “green money” seeking suitable firms / forms of investment. This “green money” gets invested in projects, firms or countries that satisfy the criteria of sustainability.
Goal: a buoyant sustainable financial market, to be achieved by stimulating
- demand: encouraging investors to select sustainable investments,
- supply: ensuring sufficient investment options that satisfy the criteria of sustainability and
- the sustainable financial market via a supportive institutional framework.
The OGUT subject area “Sustainable Financial Market” is therefore particularly concerned with the following issues:
- How can sustainable firms – from large companies quoted on the stock exchange to tiny undertakings – be motivated to turn to and assisted in using the sustainable financial market as a source of finance, making them partners for sustainable investors?
- What is the best way to motivate institutional investors to incorporate social and ecological criteria in their investment decisions, along with purely economic criteria?
- How can private investors be supported in their endeavours to invest their money sustainably?
- What political and institutional framework is needed to strengthen the sustainable financial market?
Apart from the platform “Ethical-ecological investment“ (only in German), OGUT also pursues the aim of encouraging the development of a sustainable financial market within research projects and by providing information for specific target groups.
