Gender Mainstreaming & Social Sustainablity

Gender Mainstreaming  means to systematically evaluate gender-specific measures, taken to consider the aspect of equal possibilities on all levels. It points at the change of structures and belief-systems, which are creating gender-specific inequalities and discrimination.

The emphasis of Gender Mainstreaming lies in:

  • Improving the basic conditions and the conditions of access for women in research & development
  • Sustainably anchoring the strategy Gender Mainstreaming in the area research & technology with responsible persons
  • Creating a higher sensibility for gender-relevant research-issues
  • Upgrading the visibility of successful women in research and technology
  • Raising the awareness of the gender-dimension for issues of environment and technology

22. FEMtech networking-meeting

The 22nd networking-meeting will take place on the 22nd of June from 5:30 pm till 9:30 pm. Following the wish of the FEMtech-network community, this time networking will exclusively be possible in the form of “Power-Networking”. The goal of this method is, to actively link all participants together, by having many short contact-talks with as many attendees as possible in a short time. Doing so, only the vital information is exchanged.

Hot off the presses: FEMtech Experts 2008

The monthly assortment and nomination of FEMtech Experts challenges the Gender Team within OGUT and the FEMtech-jury consistently: Out of more than 950 experts from the expert-database 144 who have been nominated  and 48 experts where introduced to the public yet. The publication „FEMtech Experts 2008“ is presenting 12 women out of Research & Technology, who in 2008 have been nominated “FEMtech Expert of the month”.

State-award for equal opportunities in R&D 2009

The Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) will grant the State-award for equal opportunities in R&D for the first time in 2009. With this award the BMVIT seeks to outline measures on company level that were taken to improve equality of opportunities in Research and Development as well to present innovative and successful solutions. Equality of opportunities ought to be improved by setting the awarded companies as examples.

Award: The State-award for equal opportunities in R&D is granted in 6 categories. The laureates amongst other things receive 10.000 EUR prize-money each, that is earmarked for equality-measures.
Eligibility requirements: Everybody may participate

  • Research- and research-intensive companies as well as
  • Extra-faculty research-facilities who are based in Austria or running most of their research-facilities in Austria

FEMtech FTI-Projects: Great success of the first call

The pilot-call FEMtech FTI-Projects ends on 27th of January 2009. The interest towards this new line of aid was great: 22 applications for support from five states were filed with the FFG. Until the 2nd of April the applications filed will be reviewed by specialists and an expert-panel. On the basis of these experiences, the pilot-call will be revised. The next call will approximately be opened in autumn 2009.

FEMtech Center of Competence

Strategy and content–development of the FEMtech-program is handed over to the FEMtech-center of competence, within it, over-all responsibility remains with OGUT.

Experts-database for all areas of competence

The OGUT is setting up an experts-database on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Transport, Innovation and Technology´s areas of competence. The experts-database is lead in cooperation with the FEMtech Experts- database. Female experts have the opportunity to subscribe online and free at umwelt.lebensministerium.at.
