klima:aktiv haus
klima:aktiv is an initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Environment and Water Management for climate protection with programmes covering many activities and programmes.
And one part of that initiative is the programme klima:aktiv haus with the klima:aktiv standard for buildings (www.klimaaktivhaus.at)
That standard was established in 2006. It is voluntary to build in that standard. Buildings that have been registered in the database (www.oebox.at/kahg) can use the logo
and will get a klima:aktiv signboard. Builders can sign an agreement with klima:aktiv for building prototypes and training of their staff if necessary.
There are two levels within the klima:aktiv standard:
- klima:aktiv haus (lowenergy house)
- klima:aktiv passivhaus
Any building that fulfils the klima:aktiv criteria can be listed as a “klima:aktiv building”.
The main differences to “normal” buildings are: energy efficiency, exclusion of very pollutant material, healthy indoor air-conditions, quality of design and execution.
Some criteria have to be fulfilled (MUST) others can be chosen from.
The declaration is possible at the design stage (this is important for the building companies as a marketing tool) and also when the building is finished. The building will get points in each field of the declaration. It needs 700 points min. to be awarded as klima:aktiv and will get a max. of 1000 points.
Today the klima:aktiv standard is available for new-built residential buildings (both single family houses and multi-storey houses) but by the end of 2008 year the standard will also be available for renovated buildings and non residential buildings (offices, shops,..).
